AMA Pro Racing to Re Organize or Musical Chairs at The Top?
I have said many years ago that the AMA needed to just get out of the way and let another group of people run the racing aspect of it, but that seemed to go over their heads. Heck, as I remember, there was a fellow in Ca that offered to take just that position, but again, a dead end. Now after the road racing has nearly fallen flat on it’s rear end, they decide to do something. Well maybe.
So, is this just hot air? By past standards in the AMA, it could be. I mean they seem to not pay any attention to other racing series and try to copy them and made things better. Maybe they are in bed with some media people, like Fox/Speed. There is a real winner, Speed, or better known as NASCAR TV. Really a lot of nothing there as far as motorcycle racing goes. They tell the AMA when they are going to air the race or races, depending on their coverage of NASCAR. And the AMA is all happy with that. So tell me, why is the coverage of the entire MotoGP race day at Indy covered live, and the AMA gets the other end of the horse?
And from my end of the deal, I watch MotoGP live from any where in the world, practice, qualifying, warm up, and race, and all the classes. And the AMA? Again, this goes by the way side.
This re organize thing to me looks like a musical chair deal at the top. No real change or ideas, just make it LOOK good. Hopefully they please everyone, namely you and me. Frankly, I am not fooled by any of this and you should look at this carefully. Want some idea’s? How about this. Dump SPEED. Offer the TV to those who would broadcast live. Get a live stream video going. Get something more for the riders, like up the bonus and base pay. Let this get rolling and the sponsors, bike factory’s, and race tracks will all benefit in the end. More importantly, the fans will return.
But, lets see just what they are up to.
Donington Park: Could be Cold, Wet, or Windy for WSBK
God, you have to love England. Donington Park sure has some cool weather when race day comes around, and it does not matter who is racing either. It is always exciting, and even has some history being made as well.
I remember the 125cc MotoGP race in 2008 when Scott Redding made some unforgettable history by winning the race there. First MotoGP rider in any class to win there, and at the age of 15, youngest rider to win a Gp race. Also on the podium there was another 15 year old in third, Marc Marquez. Although Marc looked more like a 12 year old, still made some history for himself as well. That day was a windy day, blowing a gale was the term they used, which could have blown riders right off the track. But these two 15 year old’s made it through to the podium in great style.
This last weekend though belongs to the World Superbike guys, and it was a great crashfest. And BMW win a race in 1-2 podium, sets some history there, but as the crashing went on, the two BMW riders went to the grass together on the last lap. That then let Rea, Biaggi, and Sykes to the podium in that order. Great racing overall again in Donington Park as usual.
John Hopkins was out with injury from the last race in the wet, bad luck for John, but after watching the race he might not think so. John is due to be back for the next race I believe, or trying to be.
The only other American racing is Joshua Day in WSS, but he is down the sheet at the moment.
I am sure that everyone is glad the Donington Park race is now passed, but as is the norm, this is what you get from Donington Park, and history will bear that out.
Moto3 and Moto2 Class Act to Follow
I am again traveling, so the posts have not been as my normal, but I am going to do some other things when I get back.
Of all the racing this past weekend, Moto3, and then Moto2 were the class of all races. I know Dungey finished on a high, and Stewart seems to be in limbo at present, the Hopper is moving forward in WSBK, but Moto3 and Moto2 were tops.
First Cortese wins by something like .055 of a second in Moto3. Then Marquez wins over his friend Esparagro in a last lap with 4 passes done until Pol made a slight error and let Marc go to the finish line. They both were number 1 in this race.
The PHD,s are now all quiet with their rants about sitting up and poor passing. Even the idea of doing something to the engine have gone away. Glad for it.
Anyway, the weekend nears and I have not checked what races there are, none at the moment, but more on that later.
MotoGP and WSBK in Wet and Dry this Weekend
MotoGp in Portugal was effected by rain somewhat, as Colin Edwards was taken out by Randy dePuit during qualifying resulting in a red flag and possible broken collarbone for Colin. In the end though, Casey on pole, Dani, and Cal are on the front row.
Moto3 qualifying was run in perfect conditions, Cortese on pole, Vinales, and Oliveira on the front row.
Moto2 was also in perfect conditions, Marquez on pole, Luthi and Redding on the front row for tomorrows race.
World Super Bike in Imola, in the wet, John Hopkins is 9th, and Joshua Day in SS in 26th.
AMA Pro at Infineon, Hayes is on pole for the racing in Superbike. SS has DiSalvo on top at the moment.
Supercross is racing in Las Vagas this evening.
Most of the AMA racing will be on Speed at some time or another.
Enjoy the weekend of racing. Your choices are many.
MotoGp: The Reason to Sit Up While Racing
Well, the reason for my absence over a server problem is solved. My air card went south while using my laptop to post. Go figure.
In the mean time, Ryan Dungey won his third in Supercross. Two races left before Motocross begins and Ryan Villopoto will not be there because of injury. Not sure about Stewart.
The MotoGp race was won by Casey Stoner, Moto2 by Pol Espargaro, and Moto3 by Romano Fenati. With that Italy is in party mode.
But to the story. Marc Marquez seems to do nothing correct by the talking heads these days. In Qatar, the pass on Luthi was deemed wrong on the last lap, but no mention of the fact that Luthi was in the wrong position to make the tip in to the corner. But the PhD’s of racing talking heads called it wrong.
Now it is being scrutinized as to why Marquez sits up while following another rider and not passing them. Again, the return to Qatar as to why Marquez was sitting up in the laps before making the pass on Luthi. Does his bike have more power then the others they ask. Why does he have more speed then the rest they ask. Yet all the answers lay right in front of them.
First, does his bike have more power then the others? No. The engines are all the same, Honda 600′s, and all are sealed. Break the seal and your done for. At this point, I ask, did Iannone have more power in his bike when he trotted of to a eight second lead in Moto2′s first year at some tracks? No. They checked on that and found nothing. The same will happen again with Marquez.
Well, why does Marquez sit up then? He uses the law of physics. Sit up and you cause drag, air drag as an airplane does to slow, so he slows to match the speed of the rider in front of him. Well, how does he get to be faster than the others? Simple. He is a very compact rider, therefore does not have body or body parts out in the air stream as he rides. And was taught how to get speed by riding in great racing lines around the track. Again, I point out that Pol Espargaro also sat up a lot in the 125 class wanting to stay behind the leader until the last laps. This sit up thing is not a one rider deal.
Then the thing about Suter getting new parts and bits to Marquez before the other riders. The PhD’s seem not to get their heads around this either. Suter they forget is also in a championship with other chassis people. So should Suter give new parts to a rider somewhere in the top 10 or so? Of course not. They are going to give those new parts to the rider getting them the points in their championship. Not so hard to figure out, unless your a PhD of course.
It seems to me that there is a witch hunt in progress to try to find fault with a rider that has talent far beyond most in Moto2. Yes Marc still has no idea what the bad thing was about that pass in the first place, nor can I. It is as if Mr. Luthi is Mr. perfect and has never done anything like that before. Well, I direct you to the French GP of 2011. Luthi did in fact cut the front off Bradl, forcing Bradl out of a corner allowing Takahashi and Marquez through. Then a few laps later, after Marquez and Takahashi passed Luthi, Luthi attacked Takahashi. Luthi got stood up in the corner with a block by Takahashi. Yet nothing was ever said about those little items. Also never a word about the pass by Bradl on the Turkish rider in turn one that sent the Turkish rider to the gravel in Valencia.
Looks like the PhD’s cannot see past the screen in front of their face, and as far as any comment of mine in other places, just met with PhD blindness, save a few who do know what is going on.
MotoGp in Jerez
Sorry, I am having server problems. Hope full that it is resolved Monday. I hope this gets posted as nothing else seems to have.
Supercross, AMA Pro Racing and The CEV Buckler
Well, I have been AWOL the last couple of days due to the remaking of my other site. But no excuses. The racing gods have not looked down upon Ryan Villopoto and James Stewart in a friendly way it seems. Ryan got hurt last weekend in the supercross race, and James might get back for the last race. Ryan is out for the motocross season. Ryan Dungey has returned but is a little rusty. That won’t last long. I wonder who will be in Motocross this season with so many injuries in supercross. Shorty is also back and doing very well.
American Kenny Noyes took another third in the CEV Buckler race last weekend in Moto2. Doing well Kenny, where is Tommy Aquino I wonder.
Alex Marquez won a great race in Moto3 in CEV Buckler as well last weekend. Marc was doing things for his sponsor but did manage to watch his brother race. Alex is a wild card rider in the MotoGp Moto3 race this weekend in Jerez I believe. Should be fun to watch.
Well, hope your past weekend went well, mine was spent working. Hope you have a great week. MotoGP in Jerez next.
CEV Buckler, WSBK, AMA Pro All in Action
First, my website is down due to a major change in hosting. Hope to have that back by next week, but I will see. Second, the blogs are a bit short because of the hosting problem and that I have been traveling, and will be through the summer.
Stewart is out for the next two and possibly three races. No surprise there.
World SuperBikes are in Assen this weekend, and in the rain. Looks like Assen to me. They are running under rain rules and at last glance, John Hopkins was in 9th. Joshua Day in WSS was down in 20th or so.
CEV Buckler is at a new track around Jerez somewhere. Kenny Noyes and Tommy Aquino are both in Moto2, so might keep up to them this weekend.
AMA Pro racing is back in Atlanta this weekend. I see Hayes crashed twice and still managed to keep pole position. Is this the start of a great race weekend?
I feel for Nicky Hayden for the ribbing that is going to come his way now that the Duc has turned into a VW. A beetle running on track?
Well, back to work, have a great weekend of racing.
Ducati? or VW?
Ducati is a VW now??!!
No other news at the moment…have a great day
Rossi Did Better on The Ducati Then With the Car
I guess if your motorcycle is not up to race pace, go race a four wheel machine. That is what Rossi did, but in the end, he placed better with the bike. So, back to MotoGp and see if the builders of the Ducati came up with a better bike to race with. For Rossi, it could be a long season. I am sure the fireworks will be going off in Italy, if it hasn’t already. Jerez is next, a twisty track to contend with.
Ryan Villopoto is running away with the wins now, no Stewart again, so no one to challenge Ryan. But, the title he has, so the others will be there for Motocross. Barcia has the title in Lites, so easy street for him as well.
No other news in the motorcycle world. But if your thinking about website’s and hosting with a builder, save your self a lot of headaches by staying away from advanced website builder/vision le. The blog is short because of a lot of work to transfer away from those people. Just some advise for you.
Off to get another bottle of aspirin
